I would try Eucalyptus oil, I’ve successfully removed glue with it.

You could try turps. I’ve used it to get paint out and I think it also breaks down glue.

I have not much experience with red glue! you could try boiling water maybe? interested to follow comments!

I actually purchased a bottle of Diggers White Spirits from Bunnings and have used it many times, it is used as a dry cleaning fluid. I have applied it to stains on cloths and also used it on stains on the carpet.
Hope you have success with the stain removal, this may-be the season for red and green but red glue on the carpet is a bit much to handle and rather a worry. BEST OF LUCK.

Try this method

#2- Pressing. If that didn’t work or if the glue has dried a bit, grab some brown paper (a grocery bag works well) or a thin cloth. You’ll need an iron as well. Place the paper/cloth on the stain and heat up your iron. Use a medium setting and turn off any steaming functions. When the iron is warm, press it onto the paper/cloth. Keep your hand moving and be sure not to touch the iron directly to the carpet. The glue should turn into a liquid from the heat and be absorbed by the paper/cloth. You may need to repeat this multiple times, replacing the paper/cloth as necessary.

Try eucalyptus oil, it is inexpensive has an awulk smell but works rather well. You may also try nail polish remover also works well on natural fibers.

I am interested in finding out this answer also. My kids have put glue on my carpet and I tried soaking with water but this has not helped. I think it may have been a glue stick or PVA glue that is on the carpet.
