Keep a fidget basket on your change table. Pop some different items in it each week. Things like keys, photos, padlock, some ribbon or string with things tied to it. Each nappy change give bub something different. By the time they are bored with the object and want to roll.over or try and get away the nappy is changed

I change my one year old any way I can. Sometimes even when he is standing up. Good luck!

Have you tried a thing of toys over the top? like on a play mat?

Well I have tried just about everything ere and sadly not a lot has worked.. My boy as with the wipes packet or box for a little bit and then throws them away wanting to roll over. The talking and singing etc doesn’t engage him enough. I have recently found a toy that he loves and plan to use that for change times. I may even have to pack it into my nappy bag for when we are out and needs a nappy change..

I would recommend giving him one of his favourite toys to play with during the nappy change or something to distract him.

I haven’t tried this myself yet but amazon sells a board with black and white contrast pictures. There are 6 pictures on both sides of the board. The contrast helps to distract kids. Sorry I don’t know the name of the board.

I would have a toy hanging over the change table to keep our son amused during change time. I tried to change the toy every so often so that he wouldn’t get bored it.

I usually sing a song that my son can do actions to – it keeps him focused on something else and his hands busy! “Twinkle twinkle little star” and “If your happy and you know it” are favourites. Or alternatively, a toy to hold.

Also, find a toy that engages and will draw pub’s attention.

I would engage with them, sing, talk, laugh, pull faces. When my nephew came around, that wouldn’t work so I’d hand him a toy he liked and stand his cousin next to me to sing and talk and pull faces. I tried pull ups to try and accomplish the job faster. It works with some kids, but I preferred standard nappies.

Children love songs and faces, maybe try singing with some animation.

You could try using a particularly interesting object or toy (say one that plays a song or something) only at nappy change times. This should keep him engaged in holding and looking at that while you do the necessary. Or you could sing songs or make funny faces to keep him entertained. Good luck.

I would give my son a face washer and he would wash his face while I changed his nappy. Got two jobs done at once.

When my oldest son started doing this, the maternal health nurse suggested wrapping a piece of sticky tape around one of his fingers so while I changed him he would be so preoccupied with taking the sticky tape off that he wouldn’t move.

Can you put a CD Player up out of reach and play your baby’s favourite CD while you are changing his nappy??? . I know one baby who likes to holds the packet of wipes and started that at 7 months. His Mum thinks it is the noise the pack makes when he squeezes it. It is hard to open and makes a distinctive sound when you do so there is no risk of him opening it without her knowing.

Sounds like my 16 month. I give him a toy to play with to distract him. He is still in crawler nappies but once I he gets to toddler size, I am keen to try nappy pants, hoping that might make changes easier.

I give my son a toy and he quite happily lies there and plays with it. Singing and being silly also works a treat!!

I agree with the mums that are saying pull funny faces, make funny noises – anything to try to keep them focussed on you.
