Hello!

My 5 year old got creative and I live in a rental property. How can I remove permanent marker from matte finish paint?

  • Some great tips indeed !

  • Try orange oil

  • WD40 is my suggestion too 🙂

  • WD40 will clean most stubborn marks, just do a little spot test first.

  • this was a great question and you got heaps of answers

  • there’s a product you can buy called magic wipes I think. they are a foamy looking substance that removes EVERYTHING

  • Get the white block removal pads they are awesome and some soap suds

  • acetone will remove super glue markers paint most things even glued fingers always test on a area first

  • I keep a tube of cheap white toothpaste for just such accidents even though we are in our own home, marker on walls is not a good look.

  • Try one of those magic sponges, you get them in the supermarket and they are fantastic. I got hair dye on a newly painted white gloss door and after the panic and terror wore off I tried one of those and it worked brilliantly.

  • Shaving cream and light gumption… works great on everything

  • Try hand sanitiser, that works for me for everything!

  • I know WD40 works for crayons, but not sure on markers. I am guessing you may need to repaint, sorry.

  • I’ve used Chux Magic Eraser but it only lightened it…. although it did take me a few days to get to it.

  • Try looking for Chux Magic Eraser. We have used it on crayon and ballpoint pen successfully.
