Hello!

For the best part of 7 months, my 2.5 year old will barely sleep the whole night in his bed. He mainly wakes crying in the night and ends up in my bed. It’s getting beyond ridiculous now. He has a night light and hallway light and his favorite soft toys. Am almost at my wits end…. MUMMY NEEDS uninterrupted sleep! Any suggestions please.

  • Oh boy, do I remember this! My son was a shocking sleeper for the first 2-3 years of his life. The tiredness I felt was insane. Hoping you got it all sortedd

  • You just have to be consistent. Keep taking him back to his own bed. No talking. It will take a while to work, but a short time of no sleep is better then years of no sleep. Good luck

  • I have this problem but with my 5 year old son, and he doesn’t wake to get in my bed he wakes to do naughty things :(

  • Thanks for the advice!! Will let you know how we all get on ;)

  • my child does get into our bed at some point in the night. she doesn’t disturb me and i just wake and she is there. i find if i put her back into her bed, she cries and if put her in bed and she is still sleeping, she will get back in our bed again when she wakes. i am a sucker because i can’t stand hearing her call out mummy so sadly. i am going to give her time. my eldest child, just took to having her own bed and didn’t come into ours. so yeah that’s my little experience! lol

  • At that age some have nightmares. Been there done that with 2 kids. One of them I put back to bed and sat with her for a few minutes a couple of times when it happened. She was able to tell me why she was scared. One was she thought her Mum had been hurt in an accident.
Apparently they had seen the aftermath of one a couple of days before. Another time they had seen their old car on the back of a tow truck. Their Mum told us it looked liked it had been rolled over as the hood was crushed right down, not just badly dented. Have one of you or somebody you know been sick recently?

  • I would suggest sleeping on a mattress in his room for a week, make sure he knows it your bed only. Hopefully he will feel safer with you so close and sleep through. Then move the bed to beside his door for a week. Then the hallway. Each time he tries to share it put him back in his own. I know it’s hard and sometimes your just too tired to care, but it works I promise. Also during the day talk about how safe your home is and how much you love him. Make sure he knows you are there to love and protect him.

  • Your not alone :( I’ll be following this for answers too!
