Drink it quicker ? haha no , seriously if it was corked it needs to be lying down so the cork doesn’t dry out. All wine should be kept somewhere that will not get too hot or it will go off .

Store wine away from sunlight and in a cool spot that is not subject to temperature and humidity fluctuations. If splurging on a wine fridge is out of the question, then storing wine at the bottom of a linen cupboard is a good suggestion.

At or below room temperature. Unless your room is 30 degrees. It should be cooled, but not in the fridge. In France they have a “cave (basement)” under the house and store it there. Bottle with caps upright, not to keep more than 5 years really. Bottles with corks laying down, and the corks should be changed every so often (few years or so).

Was the wine open or unopened? This makes a difference. Once red wine is opened it can generally only be kept for up to a week, sometimes less depending on the wine. Oxygen turns wine to vinegar so it’s best to reseal the bottle after each pour and store it upright if its been opened – this reduces the surface area exposure to oxygen. Some people suggest those vacuum sealing bottle toppers but there’s mixed reviews on effectiveness. Then store in a cool, dark place.

For unopened reds these should be stored in a cool, dark place (approx 12-16○), avoiding significant changes in temperature. It should be ok to be stored for 2 to 3 years. Fine wines can be stored much longer in cellar conditions.

Storing wine on its side is generally for corked wines to keep the cork from drying out. If you’re planning on drinking your wine in the short to mid-term and if they have alternative closures like screw caps or plastic corks, side storage is not necessary.

There’s lots of info and advice on Google (“storing red wine”), but hopefully this gives you a quick overview. I’ve had issues with a red turning if I haven’t finished a bottle quickly enough after opening (I know, like when does anyone not finish a bottle!). But I have never kept unopened bottles long enough to experience this issue.

I’m not much of a wine connoisseur I’m afraid – I don’y buy anything overly expensive or worth cellaring. But I do enjoy drinking it 🙂

Wine is best to be kept in a cool dark spot like a cellar. Keep the bottles in a horizontal position by laying them in a wine rack. Best bottles have a cork, not bottle tops.

I’m not a wine drinker so no idea. I have kept cask wine in my kitchen pantry for cooking. After a while it had bits floating in it. I didn’t realise bottled wine went off
