Hello!

My baby girl is now 13 months. She is still on formula but I want to change her to cows milk. What is the best way to start her? Should I just change straight over? She has about 3-4 bottles a day and is on novalac gold stage 2.

  • Try one bottle at a time to change, this will Ensure no reaction and give her time to adjust. After a couple of days you can be totally changed.

  • start with 1/4 cows milk: 3/4 formula for about a week, the 1/2 and 1/2, followed by 3/4 cows milk. If she tolerates it you can reduce the time frame – we worked over 2-3 days each step.

  • How did you go with the switching?

  • how did it go? :)

  • Hope all went well when you eventually switched.

  • See if she likes the taste and then slowly introduce the milk in small intervals as it can cause constipation.

  • Mix together until she gets used to the different taste

  • How did you go with switching?

  • Ease into it by mixing the two together to start, and then slowly reducing the formula ratio.

  • What did you end up doing?

  • You might want to mix a bit together until she gets use to the taste of cows milk

  • You CAN change straight over, but it can be more successful if you slowly and steadily transition her onto cows milk, or even start by changing one bottle per day to cows milk. Good luck.

  • Can’t change straight over. Mix the two. Cows milk n formula

  • Possibly try a little cows milk mixed in with the formula or if not try watered down (50/50) cows milk before a feed where you know she is particularly thirsty!
If she isn’t keen at first don’t despair it took a month of trial and error to get my 14 month old interested but now that she is – she can’t get enough moo juice !

  • Start by mixing a little cows milk in with the formula… Each time increase the cows milk till they r fully on cows milk. Worked a treat for me

  • Start with a little bit, you’ll work out pretty quickly how your child’s tummy is handling it. A few people here have said their children’s tummies took a bit of time to get used to it but my son was fine, so we made a very quick transition. You’ll know what’s right for your child when you start the process.

  • I started with my daughter by giving one bottle a day she had the runs as she has a lactose intolerance but we found by watering down her milk she could drink it and also soy milk

  • I am interested in this as I am having a baby soon. Great helpful tips everyone, thanks (-:

  • When we changed our son from formula to cows milk we started by replacing one bottle during the day with cows milk. Then every 3 days after that we replaced a formula bottle for cows milk till it was only cows milk. It was a very smooth transition that way :)
