Hello!

My hubby has caught a terrible case of the flu (and not the ‘man-flu’ strain, unfortunately it’s the real thing! tee hee hee). We are hosting a large gathering in a week and a half and knowing my luck (and Murphy’s Law!) I can foresee either my children (aged 5, 3 & 23mths) or myself catching hubby’s ailment just in time for our gathering. I’m after any MoM suggestions or ideas in terms of preventative measures (besides exiling hubby to the kids’ cubby for the duration of his ailment!) so that the children and I can avoid the discomfort that hubby is clearly going through and all enjoy the upcoming gathering. All ideas and suggestions are very greatly appreciated! How do you avoid getting sick?

  • As hard as it might be try not to get too close to him… If you do start to feel like you’re catching it take some extra vitamins and maybe some cold and flu tablets to stop it before it takes hold…

  • Probiotics strong ones, fermented food like one’s from Kitsa’s Kitchen, lots of garlic, keep him confined to the bedroom.

  • Send him overseas for 2 weeks

  • Olive leaf extract either tablets or liquid (chemist warehouse ) and spray Glenn 20 around

  • best if you could send hubby to a relatives, but in any case and failing that, glen 20 everything and make sure the kids and yourself use the bacterial hand wash if possible…good luck xx

  • Have tissues and try and get the ch8ildren not to have close contact with him like hugs and kisses

  • My eldest got the actual flu last year and we managed to keep it from spreading to her sisters, one of whom is asthmatic. Mostly it was good hygeine, like handwashing, and keeping her confined to her bed on her worst days. They’re not contagious the entire time and not everyone will catch flu even if exposed (I’ve had it twice in my life and never caught it from a family member). Keep the room aired during the day to help stop the virus from spreading, and keep everyone else out. Try not to get sneezed on and always wash hands after clearing up tissues/vomit. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE. Even with clean hands, try to keep your hands away from your face including your eyes. This is how a virus gets from your hands to inside your body. Wash all bedding frequently and if you have spare pillows try to air his pillow daily in the sun for at least 2 hours and give him a fresh one. This stops the virus lingering in bedding, as UV will kill most germs. Give him plenty of fluids if he can keep them down and get him a good cold/flu tablet to help him feel more comfortable. If he’s not over it in a week, have him checked by a doctor to make sure he doesn’t have a secondary infection. (My daughter ended up with both ears infected and tonsillitis.) Good luck!

  • cut onions…. beside him will help absorb the germs from the air. pro biotics all round….

  • Have tissues handy in the house, frequent washing of hands, and minimise contact. Perhaps even consider asking your husband to wear a mask? They may look silly, but they sure do work! 🙂

  • Make him wear a mask, so silly to us but in Asia its very common to avoid the spread of the cold bug.

  • Or keep him away from the kids and wash hands! Single most important preventer.

  • Olive leaf extract

  • Send him to the spare room, pre fitted with TV and bar fridge (hopefully access to own toilet). Tuck him into bed, tell him you love him, and back away, spraying the room with glen 20. Shut door and use standard gaffer tape to seal all cracks and crevices. Tell him you wish him good luck in getting over his sickness, and that for the sake of the rest of the family, he has to stay put. 🙂

  • Try to stop your kids from kissing their dad and no sharing cups, spoons, folks, eat oranges, use glen 20, green tea is great for stopping spending but most kids don’t like it.

  • Maybe a probiotic powder or supplement.

  • Oh…and another thought….Take the kids outside to play as much as possible rather then being stuck inside with the germs. Hoping that where you live is not freezing cold weather.

  • Make sure you wash your hands a lot and use Glen20 on counter tops, etc.
Dose up on Vitamins and Pray…a lot…lol
    Good luck.

  • Put him in a motel for a few days and disinfectant the house
Lol. Unfortunately u can’t avoid these things

  • pump urself with garlic tablets…2 tabs twice a day

  • oh yeah spray the glen 20 liberally!
