  • i find heating a bowl of water with lemon juice always does the trick. whether there is dirty splashes in the mike or its just got a bit of a residual food odor it always does the trick. simply heat then wipe out the mike after, love the lemon smell too

  • vinegar lemon juice and bicarb or eucalyptus oil diluted in a spray bottle

  • I use just water and a cloth – and then when it’s clean, I wipe it down with a cloth soaked in water with a little vanilla essence.

  • Place a cut lemon in a cup of water and heat for a few minutes in the microwave. Let it sit for a few minutes and you should find most of the grime wipes out

  • i use lemon juice & vinegar with water wipes clean & no nasties!

  • Equal parts white vinegar and water in a bowl. Microwave for 5 minutes, and let sit for a minute or two with the door closed once it’s finished. Then just wipe clean.
Works every time for us, our microwave is always sparkling!

  • I second what mom69553 said about the lemon in the microwave – works really well.

  • Lemon and water in a bowl, microwave for a minute or two and leave in there for about 5 minutes so it steams up the inside, then wipe off. Perfect every time.

  • I also love the lemon and water trick. It works really well.

  • I put lemon juice in a bowl of water and thorn the microwave on for about 10 min. Once done, I remove the bowl (carefully because its extremely hot) and wipes the inside of the microwave with a damp cloth.

  • Great comments from moms as usual ..glad to here you now have a clean microwave.
For future cleans bi carb is also great.

  • I put a few drops of vanilla essence in a a microwave safe jug half filled with cold water and microwave for 2-3 minutes, then leave it for a while and wipe clean. If there is really stubborn food stuck (I have teens!) I use a couple of drops of morning fresh instead of vanilla. Just be sure to wait until it’s cooled before removing from the microwave!

  • Reading these answers I see that a lot of people cut a lemon into quarters and place in a bowl in the microwave and turn on for 2 minutes. Leave for at least 5 minutes and microwave can be wiped out and it is clean and fragrant.

  • I now have the cleanest microwave in town thanks to all these great tips!!!

  • Lemon juice and water in a dish, microwave for 2 minutes.

  • Jug of water with a squeeze of lemon juice, cook until boiling and leave to cool. Repeat if stubborn mess.

  • put a bowl of water in microwave to heat to hot, steam loosens up any marks, then spray and wipe with bicarbonate of soda and viniger.works a trickyou can always dry off with a cloth with lemon juice on it just for smell value. my hansome grandson

  • Heat a bowl full of water in it for a few minutes, and then carefully remove the bowl and wipe out the microwave soon as its finished..

  • Place cup of water( I squeeze a small amount of fresh lemon juice) although water works fine, heat on high for 2 minutes than simply wipe interior of microwave with cloth. Hot water softens baked on grime/food splatters which enables it to be wiped clean with ease, no harsh chemicals, no scrubbing!!

  • I wipe after use so it is not really dirty but to freshen it up I put a bowl of water and some lemon juice and turn it on high and let the steam clean and freshen the inside.
