I do several things to deal with stress;
-talk about it with a friend,
-write things down in a diary
-stay organised
-build in time for relaxation (a book, a shower, a run)
-find activities where you can put your stress in like that are upbuilding at the same time (when I’m frustrated about a difficult meeting orso the I like to work hard in the garden)
Take some time just to do something that gives you pleasure. It may be a nice cup of tea or a few pages of a book, even 10 mins a day just to ‘be’ think only of yourself can soothe the mind. In this busy, busy world, this is even harder to achieve but the ‘little things really are the big things’.
on spotify (you can get a free edition) they have some streefree music to sit and listen to. try and find 10 /20 mins time out for yourself to relax listing to relaxing music and breath slowly. Your local library too may have some CD/ DVDs you can borrow with relaxing techniques on it. good luck
I recently joined the gym and take the time every second evening to destress at the gym. If for any reason I can’t go to the gym I organise that same time to cook.
It’s hard when you have a lot to deal with and have a disability, but I know some alone time to just relax is a huge deal for me. Even when the kids are at school it’s hard as I usually have to run errands, do chores, etc, and the time flies by! I always seem to be tired, I wish I could go for walks/exercise but I just can’t find the motivation. I used to drink but have stopped, it seemed to help but wasn’t a healthy solution at all.
I used to grind my teeth in my sleep. My Dentist I take the time to do something I enjoy on a regular basis. I love knitting so I started knitting little beanies which were donated to the Childrens Hospital for babies whose parents didn’t have a chance to grab things like that in an emergency. Sometimes they came from warm climates down to cold climates and needed warmth when they left hospital. I also started going for short walks again -depending on the weather.
i go to do yoga for an hour, just really be in the moment no thinking of anything that bothers you.
i know we always say we don’t have this kind of time…but we need the ‘me time’ we sure have these kind of time but try your best to squeeze it out.
Such a good question. I tend to take my dog for a walk. I have read that a magnesium supplement can help too, it reduces cortisol or something which reduces stress
