Hello!

Hi Mummies!! How did you find the right child care centre or family day care for your child? How long did it take your one year old to settle in? We did lots of research for our son, including trial days at venues we liked. We chose the family daycare option that he was most attracted to in our ‘trials’ but he is yet to have a good day there and he’s been going there a month now. I don’t know if he just isn’t ready for daycare even if it is only once a week or if we should persist for a bit longer with this place or if we should look at our other options again :s How do you find the right day care?

  • Visit a lot of centres in your area and you’ll get a feel for which one is right for you. Take a look at the children and see whether they look happy or not. That was a big tell tale sign for me.

  • It’s tricky. Trust your gut. I would give it a little more time. Try to work out what it is that he doesn’t like about it. Then you can either try to fix it while still there or find another centre that doesn’t have those issues. Good luck.

  • An old post, how did you go?

  • If you are happy with the quality then give it a little longer, some kids can take a little while to settle into a routine, removing them can just start the process all over

  • i hope you found one

  • When they have open days it can be very helpful, many of them have one each year which is a great idea.

  • I hope everything’s working out for you

  • Ask your neighbours and friends sometimes if your child has a friend in there it would help

  • He may just be taking a little while to settle in. I agree with rach in paying the centre a surprise visit. If things don’t improve I’d change daycares, or even change to a home daycare.

  • I think trust ur instincts and ask around!
