Are they definitely fruit flies? If so you need to call to call the Dept. of Agriculture as it means your surrounding areas will have to be quaranteed and no fruit removed and taken into another area. It can ruin our fruit industry. If it isn’t the type of fruit fly you think it they will give you advice how to eradicate them.

An online gardening club may be able to help to with answering very specific gardening questions and they often have cheap solutions to these problems too.

Yes the automatic insect sprays ( low allergy or natural ) are a good product!

we have put one of the automatic insect sprays in our kitchen, we use to always have them hanging around our coffee machine, since then never had a problem till we forget till refill it every two months or so.

There are special fruit fly traps you can get from nurseries to help control the. They are becoming a pest in Victoria now and the Agriculture department will help out as they don’t want the Vic fruit orchards becoming infested.

In your house or in fruit trees outside? If they’re outside, there’s stuff you can hang in the trees to kill them

I would recommend going to a nursery for advice – they can be tricky!
