My hubby is usually the one to use the BBQ in our house. I think a good portion of the time, he doesn’t clean it (extra flavour!) But when it does need a clean, you can get steel scourers and he usually rubs half a lemon over it, that seems to help with the removal of grease.

There are also a number of products that can be purchased in various stores to assist with cleaning a BBQ. We have used some of these products when away on holidays and they have worked well with cleaning a BBQ. Again, we have cleaned up quickly but it is a job best tackled sooner rather than later!

We always clean the BBQ when it has cooled down; it can be a nasty job that is made harder by leaving it. We have good products and plenty of vigorous cleaning to remove all residue and make sure it is ready for the next use. It is important to clean the BBQ after each use to make sure it does not attract unwanted visitors.

Personally when we finish cooking on ours we always pour some water on it so that when we come back to it it’s still moist and ready to be scraped with a bbq scraper. If you can manage to give it a quick clean it straight away that’s always best… use long tongs and a wet sponge. If you really need to clean a baked on bbq sometimes reheating it a bit first can help.

Nothing complicated, just a bbq scraper and some paper towel or news paper. The hot plate on a bbq is tough and can take a bit of a beating. If needed you can add some oil when heating it up if it needs help lifting the muck. Speciality bbq wipes aren’t necessary
