Hi Mums of chronic eczema kids. How are you preventing night scratching? Our doctor has us bandaging his arms and legs. Hoping for some better ideas from savvy Mums.

  • I suffered badly with eczema and it wsnt discovered until I left home in my teens that a trigger for me ws the washing powder my Mum used. When I moved out of home I purchased a cheaper washing powder and as I worked my way through my clothes and they all got washed with the new powder my skin issues went away.


  • And make sure the onesie is 100% cotton !


  • A onesie that allows little access could be an idea as well

  • Mittens for sure. I really like Caroline’s cream for my eczema.


  • My friend whose had really bad eczema for all her life sorted it out by changing the filters on all her taps. The water she drank and bathed in had too many chemicals so she eliminated them and now only has a mild one or two patches here and there. She moved closer to the beaches so she could swim in the sea water and that helps too! Just thought I’d share her journey. Best of luck.


  • I used to have eczema myself and the itch was awful; believe me you rather have pain ! I always had a pot with salt beside my bed. I would add salt to the bath water, always make sure the nails are very short and yes gloves on during the night. When your child has seriously chronic eczema make sure to see a Dermatologist as well.


  • How about their active wear – it’s usually too tight to slip off easily and would be softer than bandages on the body. I’d cream them up first and pop on active wear and mittens and socks.

  • I had a friend whose 6yo had really bad eczema. She used to take him swimming at the beach. The salt water worked wonders

    Avoid allergens before bed. …

    Wear gloves to bed.


  • Bath oil helps skin soo much then moisturise daily twice a day until under control. If it’s bad get medication to control it first
