We were always told tie long hair back or have hair short and keep it always clean and tidy . It was always drummed into our heads and we never caught anything like that . I guess my mother always cuts all our hair hair at a young age , it helps too…

A few drops of tea tree oil and lavender in a spray bottle with some contitioner and water(leave in conditioner). And a few drops in shampoo and contitioner as well

Tea Tree Oil is meant to be the best prevention.
We treat our hair with lice solution every 6 months (just in case!)
Lice are so easily spread & so difficult to get rid of!
& whenever you do the lice solution wash ALL bedding!

I dilute tea tree oil in a bottle of water and spray it on their hair when I brush it in the morning. I also put long hair in plaits, it makes it difficult for the nits to attach.

Nits love clean hair not dirty it is true,as far as I know only the treatment when they get them what to do. seems to be a now and then epidemic that occurs each year… whole family has to be de-liced I fear! Hope someone else has better idea

I used to spray their hair with water containing a few drops of lavender and teatree oil. Seemed to work.

Avoid sharing hats.
I remember getting nits as i child because i shared a girls school hat.

I have a spray bottle and I put in a few drops of eucalyptus oil and water and after I do my daughters hair in the morning I just give her head two sprays of it. I find that it doesn’t smell after a minute, but it seems to work. she had nits a year ago and it was horrible. but she hasn’t had them since even though her friends have had them a couple of times.

Try to avoid sharing hats, hair ties, brushes with other kids. Keep your childs hat separate from the other hats by keeping it in her bag. Some centres place all the hats in one box. I had a problem with this and insisted my childs hat be kept separate.

Like others I used ti-tree oil. I put a few drops in the shampoo & made up a solution (just water & ti-tree) in a spray bottle & spritzed my kids hair (brushes too) before going to school. Also gave their school hats a good spray as well. My kids are manic about no-one touching their hats! It’s worked well 🙂

I put tea tree oil in my shampoo its a preventive but they can always still get them hair spray also but nothing really stops them you just have to keep checking, I also make my kids put a heap of conditioner in there hair every sunday night and comb it threw with the nit comb just to be sure. Painful when you check and treat but other parents don’t grrrrrr

Use hairspray when they go to child care, don’t wash their hair as much(nits can’t stick to spray or dirty hair) and also try a water bottle mixture of water, tea tree oil and lavender,they don’t like those scents.

Tea tree oil (3-4 drops) mixed in a hair conditioner & lathered onto the scalp. Place a shower cap & leave overnight. Comb out dead nits in the morning & shampoo as normal. Spray tea tree oil & water on the child’s head before going to school helps to stop reinfestation.
