Luckily all my family ( that are in the same state anyway) get along so this isn’t an issue for us now but I remember when growing up we would go to one family for lunch and the other for dinner. As a kid I found this pretty tiring though so I think if I had this issue now I would just spend xmas with my kids/partner and do the extended family thing the day before and the day after…

You don’t want conflict at Christmas, l tend not to see people who do that!

A very Merry Christmas and Blessed Christmas and A Happy New Year wished to one and all.

Only immediate and close family would be invited (although they’re all dead apart from siblings living overseas so makes it really easy). I might consider inviting different ‘factions’ on different days or at different times if they really didn’t get along; or just go the ‘christmas spirit’ route and invite everyone when suits you and it’s their problem if they can’t behave nicely to each other. (Probably too hard to get them to resolve issues before coming? but might be an answer too)

Really Christmas is a time for forgiveness…in reality it is hard to determine who to invite and who misses out. I’ve been in this predicament before and have invited both parties as it is my party and it is their choice to come or not, at least they were invited. It was awkward in the beginning but both parties knew how to avoid each other.

Our families live in Europe so it’s easy! 🙂
