When babies bite, typically it’s because they’re teething. They’re just doing it to relieve the pain of their swollen, tender gums. They’re exploring their world. Very young children use their mouths to explore, just as they use their hands. You could offer a chewing toy.
Step 1: Be calm and firm. Address your child with a firm “no biting!” or “biting hurts!” Keep it simple and easy for a toddler to understand. …
Step 2: Comfort the victim. …
Step 3: Comfort the biter, if need be. …
Step 4: Offer alternatives. …
Step 5: Redirect.
My friends dad used to always tell this story. When he started biting as a kid, his dad ended up picking him up and planting a massive bite on his butt. Left teeth marks and bruising and my friend never bit again. It worked but I wouldn’t recommend it
