Hello!

I wonder if u have any ideas that could help me… Felicity has learnt to pull herself up to stand in her cot. While its very clever and cute she keeps doing it at bed time. I spend ages going in and laying her back down cause she gets stuck standing up in the cot and cries. If I leave her she falls and hits her head. Any idea how to stop it ? It is driving me insane having to keep laying her back down.

  • This should just be a phase.

  • Yes my first thought was a sleeping bag to give some peace of mind as well. But in the end you can’t stop your baby from standing up and the cot should be safe.

  • Have you considered one of those sleeping bag thingys for babies? Might make things more difficult if she can’t fully use her legs

  • Standing in cot nothing to worry about if it is safe for from

  • All babies stand up mine did and I had no issues is she’s old enough maybe she needs to be put in a cot with no sides but I dont see a mention of age?

  • Maybe your daughter is old enough to go in a bed?? All babies stand up in their cot once they feel confident to do so. They go through stages of falling over when learning to stand up in cot. Maybe your daughter reckons she doesn’t want to have a sleep. Maybe darken her room even for day sleeps so she knows it’s supposed to be sleep time – not play time

  • Not much else to do but ride it out. It’s new, she loves it, til something replaces it

  • Why would you want to stop them? It’s a milestone.

  • It’s a new trick, they keep doing it until the next new trick comes along. There isn’t much else that can be done than constantly lay them down.

  • Great! Really very interesting comments on this!

  • Cot bumper cot bumper cot bumper!!

  • There isn’t much you can do sadLy do you have a cot number? Maybe try and air wrap. Try and put as little in the cot as possible and make a little danger as possible for her to hurt herself. :)

  • i would suggest getting a cot bumper but apparently the experts recommend against these now. just make sure there aren’t toys that she can climb up on. She will just get better at standing up now though and manouvering herself around

  • You can’t, all you can really do is minimise the risk of injury as best as you can. Hopefully she learned to settle herself.

P.S. I love love LOVE the name Felicity!

  • I don’t think you can. It’s just a phase really.
Just make sure there isn’t anything enticing her like a mobile or toys etc. maybe have her wear a sleeping sack which is a little more difficult to walk in… But they seem to master everything!

  • Good Luckxo

  • I would go hard core and stay in her room, sitting on the floor not looking at her. Every time she stands up immediately lay her back down. If this takes 200 times then do it 200 times. I guarantee you it will be less the next time and less the time after that. She will be sured of her novel idea to stand my nap/sleep number 4. but if you start this you must follow through with it. You may explain to her what you are going to do the first time you put her down, but no talking or eye contact after that. It will be hard, she will cry. But it will be done with in a matter of days and she will get the sleep a growing girl needs.

  • Sorry I can’t help you with that one. Mine all stood up in the cot. They eventually got tired and went to sleep. Just another phase.

  • Its a frustrating transition time, you cant stop her but she will get better at it! Try different settling practices and embrace her new found skills!

  • you cant really do anything
