You really need to see a dermatologist as it’s related to the skin on your head as this may require medication or medicated shampoo if it’s been a long time and supermarket brands aren’t helping. If left untreated properly, it could become psoriasis

I stopped using shampoo/conditioner as much as I did and have had great success with eliminating dandruff. I used to wash once a week but even that was way too much. I’m now thinking of using a shampoo once every 3 or 4 months, and just rinsing hair with rainwater in between. Not only has the dandruff gone but the ‘body’ and natural oils in the hair has never been better! Just going to be hard to persuade a 15 year old that they don’t need all those products… show them this answer!

We took the dermatologist’s advice and then sourced a cheaper brand with the same results.

My daughter is now using the T-Gel and out of the shower, she applies 4 drops of rosemary oil. At the moment it looks good!

We had to visit a dermatologist and it did help in our situation.

I have the same problem. Anti-dandruff shampoo’s don’t do much for me. Instead, I melt two big spoons of coconut oil and massage it into my scalp – then down to my ends. Leave for 30 minutes and wash out with normal shampoo and conditioner. Only costs a couple bucks for a jar of coconut oil from Aldi and will last 3-4 treatments!

Ok, I’ve bought the Neutrogena shampoo this morning. Once the rosemary oil arrives, I will let my daughter try that too.
In the article posted by Ellen they talk about aloe vera again. I think I’ll buy it. It’s something good for your skin too, not only for the hair.
When my daughter was very young (around 2 years old I guess) she used to suffer of seborrheic dermatitis. I wonder if lately she’s having more problems because that’s somehow coming back. Together with hormonal changes, as she’s 15. Maybe we should see the doctor? To go to a dermatologist I guess we need a referral. Anybody knows?

There are many ideas of natural treatment possible, which are quite simple to try out. Like adding some drops of tea tree oil to the shampoo you use, washing your with baking soda, wash your hair with lemon juice, salt, garlic & honey, and more.

I make all my own shampoos and conditioners along with shower and hand soaps with chemical free bases @ $8 per litre.

Homemade Rosemary Mint Shampoo
Total Time: 2 minutes
Serves: 10-15
Ingredients:
6 oz Aloe Vera Gel
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
10 Tbsp Baking Soda
20 drops Rosemary Oil
10 drops Peppermint Oil
BPA free plastic dispenser bottles
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together
Store in an 8oz glass or plastic bottle

My eldest son uses T-gel 2 in 1 by neutrogena works really well. Also recommend head and shoulders by other family members.
