Hello!

Just wondering how long other mums breast fed their baby? I know some mums aren’t able to breast feed but for myself I was able to and breast fed my babies between 16-21 months. Just wondering what other mums did?

  • My son breastfed the longest, till he was 5yrs old

  • I’m still breastfeeding my fourth, she’s 2 years 3months and REALLY doesn’t want to stop yet lol.

  • My first one stopped at nine months when he was hospitalised. I set that as the bar for my second child and she also stopped at 9-10 months

  • With my older 2 I fed as long as I could and stopped when I had low milk supply. 9 months and 6 months. I then read that drinking plenty of water helps supply so I did that with my 3rd who I fed for 17 months.

  • 14 months and then switching to cow milk

  • My first was til 9 months. He got gastro and ended up in hospital where they only let him have small amounts of Gastrolyte. I was in the process of weaning, he was down to an early morning breast feed and a before bedtime feed, but the hospital stay sped things up. My second was around the same age. Once they got teeth, it got dangerous to breast feed lol

  • baby #1: about 3 weeks
    baby #2: about 4-5 weeks
    baby #3: 7 weeks
    baby #4: 3 days
Definitely sad, but for baby 1, 2 and 4, I just didn’t produce the milk and with baby 3, I was dumb enough to listen to my mother….

  • #1 i feed her til she was 16 months, #2 feed her til she was 11 months she wasnt interested in feeding from me and #3 is 10 months and he is still feeding

  • I am going to try and get to at least 12-18 months with this one… We’ll see how I go!

  • yeah till about 14mths old. nowdays the recommendation is until 2 years old

  • It is a very individual situation for every mum and all mums’ need support regardless of how they feed their bubs.

  • The first year was a success!

  • I breastfed my older children until they where around 14 months they stopped on there own they had cut down to one feed at night so it was really easy on me. My 8 month old loves her breastfeeding and will not drink from a bottle so it will be interesting to see what she does. I don’t think I would be feeding her past 20 months as its exhausting on me and I wouldn’t think she would need it but more a comfort thing. But it’s up to you and how and what you feel is right for your baby.

  • Only a week my milk was going straight through her

  • With my first baby I breast fed for 3 months, second baby 3 days and my third baby 9 months. My second child was a problem feeder and I was advised to just put him on the bottle which with hind sight it was bad advice as he fed so slow and trying to keep the bottle warm particularly in the wee hours of night was not fun. I actually felt like I could die of exhaustion but I didn’t and baby did eventually start to thrive. Was a slow process.

  • 13 months with number one – got bitten, was pregnant with number 2 and pretty exhausted. I really hoped she’d self wean but didn’t. We were down to one feed and when I stopped offering it, she didn’t look for it. BF number 2 now which is hard when number one comes and hits us, tugs on us etc…. hope to get to 12 months!

  • I breastfed number one until a few weeks ago at 18months old and weaned as I am pregnant and it became really painful

  • I did 4 months for my daughter. I had a lot of trouble producing enough milk from the beginning and it was a real struggle for that long. Plus she slep through the night from an early age and I put my own sleep over staying up and pumping.

  • With my daughter exactly one year and one week!
