  • My first was born Tuesday morning and I went home Thursday afternoon. With my second, they I sited I stay for nearly a week. Their reason being I had a toddler at home and needed the rest. Not sure I agree with that excuse

  • If everything goes well in labour and both you and baby are doing well after birth. Eg baby is feeding well. Usually one or two days after birth.

  • Don’t think you have to stay overnight at all as long as you’re mobile, have eaten and drunk something, have peed and have bowel movements, baby is doing well and in the case of breastfeeding milk has come in. Make you request clear by the staff.

  • If everything went smoothly most hospitals will let you leave the next day if you want to. Or if it isn’t your first even a few hours later.

  • Providing no complications i have had friends leave in 4-6 hours. But dont be scared to ask to stay if you need help with feeding etc
