Hello!

Miss 8 has been questioning me about how babies are made. I gave her a basic explanation but now she is wanting more information. How much should I tell her?

  • There’s a book called “where do babies come from”

  • I would take a trip to the library and find some nice books on the subject and give a brief summary, at this age details need not be too specific.

  • Telling the truth is the best maybe ask what she knows first

  • There are some great books to explain these kinds of things – ask your local library

  • Love that Jabelle “with a bit of milk, a bit of water and maybe just one carrot” that is soooo cute!

  • Try to be as honest as possible. But don’t tell her what you think she can’t handle/process/understand.
I good way to start is to ask why she wants to know.
Then also ask how she thinks it happens.
There’s a good chance there may have been some talk at school about it amongst her peers and she may already know the truth or she may have heard some ludicrous story!
My 7yo boy asked me this week if I knew how to make babies. I said, yes, why do you want to know? He said it was because he wants another little baby in the house. Then I asked him if he knew how they were made. he said ‘with a bit of milk, a bit of water and maybe just one carrot!!!
