Hello!

My one year old daughter is cutting 4 teeth and has been extremely fussy with her food and won’t eat. She will eat yoghurt and weet bix but that is it. I’m still dishing up her vegetables and meat at dinner but she won’t eat it and same at lunch she won’t eat fruit or a sandwich. Should I go back and purée her food to see if she will eat it that way? She is drinking heaps of water and milk but as a result in not having a full tummy she won’t sleep through at night help please!

  • Aw he must be in pain ! Yeah I would certainly try if he eats a bit more when you mash the food.
Plain yogurt, pureed meat, mashed veggies and fruit are all good options because your baby doesn’t have to chew them. Frozen fruits, veggies or breastmilk in a mesh feeder. Fill it with frozen fruit (like bananas and peaches) or frozen pureed veggies (like broccoli and carrots) to soothe baby’s sensitive gums. Frozen strips of mango are nice to chew on as well; the cold food will numb the pain.

  • My son does exactly the same when he is teething won’t eat anything! I usually make him a milkshake with fruit & Icecream. It’s the only thing he will touch and fills him up for a bit. Some weeks he has lived on them. Once they come through he goes back to normal so don’t worry too much just give her what ever she will eat.

  • poor little thing must hurt to bite and chew
so mash and mince,or home-made juice with veg added is good too
stewed apples and custard, ice-cream and jelly, scramble eggs, soft food to do
or fruit juice ice blocks cool her gums and are delicious it is true
