Decide on the Subject Area: Think about what subjects you’re comfortable teaching. It could be anything from English, math, or science to music or languages. Your knowledge and skills will guide this choice.
Qualifications: While formal qualifications aren’t always necessary, having a teaching background or a degree related to your subject can help. If you don’t have formal qualifications, gaining a certification or short course in tutoring could boost your credibility.
I starting tutoring through friends, with their children first. I then got further work via word of mouth. In the community groups that I am in, people are often asking for tutors in our local area. If I am able to take on their child as a client I message through my details and rate etc.
Most tutors are retired teachers or teachers on leave. However you could possibly get some work if you do a certificate in education assistance at TAFE. It is about demonstrating you have the knowledge of the curriculum….technically, as a private independent contractor, you do not have to really be qualified just knowledge with working with children clearances and people willing to hire you. Gumtree us a popular place to advertise.
