Hello!

“I’m hoping that your likers might be able to help me – I am after a student photographer for my two son’s birthday parties. Its so hard to capture their birthdays when you are busy preparing the food or organising the games. We just don’t have the money to pay a professional but would love to have some good photos of the day. One is in May and the other in June. We are in Brisbane and I have already tried Gumtree – I have responded to ads but have not received any responses to my requests. Are you able to help at all?” Do you know how to find a good student photographer?

  • Look up some on Facebook…. U can see their photos too n see if u like them

  • How did it turn out hope you were able to get one

  • you could ask a friend or relative to do it for you. or ask the local uni if they can recommend someone.

  • If the noticeboard doesn’t work out, you could also place a few line ad in the local newspaper wanted section.

  • Hope you managed to find one :)

  • I would place a notice up on the boards of universities & tafes. Theres bound to be people willing to help out

  • Have you tried contacting the local Tafe and Uni? They generally have noticeboards for stuff like this.

  • I would highly recommend gumtree because I have found a few things on there

  • Maybe an add on gumtree, and the local tafe..or high school even

  • Contact a TAFE, or even in Gumtree there are often photographers looking to build their portfolios.

  • TAFe students do an excellent job. Post it on your facebook page too.

  • As others have suggested, get in touch with QLD TAFE and enquire about student photographers (the newer students who are just as apt at photography would be cheaper to use). Another site that is good is http://www.serviceseeking.com.au/photography/Qld/Brisbane – you can compare quotes and prices with photographers available.

  • Putting your own ad in the local paper may have also been a good idea.

  • Agreed, on FB there are heaps of local opp shops and online “garage sale” pages look for ones in your local area and post in them, thats how i found a couple photographers to do some family photos :)

  • On FB alot of areas have a garage sale group or a feedback group and you can ask in both of these – also call the local schools

  • Tafe is a good idea but try the buy swap sell areas n Facebook as well. I know a lot of people divertissements their ursine as you could ask what you have asked here. Good luck

  • Start by contacting several of the schools/uni’s in your area that do photography and ask them if they could put up some information on a notice board on your behalf. Perhaps the teacher will be able to give you some more information as to where you could find someone. Great idea though, might look at finding someone myself for my daughter’s party. I asked a friend who is just starting out as a photographer to take photos of my baby shower (she offered to get there early to get nice photos of the room and my belly) however she arrived 2 hours late. By that stage, the food table looked like a disaster zone and wasn’t as beautiful as it was when it was first set up. I went to alot of trouble to make it look gorgeous, and sure i have some photos on my iphone but not the quality i was expecting. lol I would avoid asking family or friends for the future.

  • Have you tried on facebook??

  • So, did you end up finding someone? :)

  • Try on http://www.truelocal.com.au as people put up ads for this all the time.
