Hello!

My toddler doesn’t like eating.. Especially breakfast. He might eat a few Fruity Bites or give them a miss totally. He’s more savoury. What do you give your under 2 year old to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

  • I came here to read the comments because I feel I am continually wasting food and effort by cooking.

However I do have a couple of pointers that have helped me:
    – frozen peas as snacks are my go to for toddlers who are ‘stttrarving’ while I’m cooking and getting a serve of veggies in is a huge bonus
    – cut up fruit – is am.not too fussed if the nutrients come from fruit instead of veg some nights – who am I kidding they easily burn the calories
    – scrambled eggs with ham and cheese is always a hugggge hit
    – yoghurt with sprinkles for dessert

Very keen to see other comments – i will check back.

  • We always like to involve everyone in meal times. Children and adults are drawn to colourful food and it is appealing in bowls and on plates. We have always offered a selection of food in bowls and had tongs and spoons for selecting food. Children and adults like to select their food and it makes it fun at food time.

  • My daughter doesn’t eat a lot, you need to remember they have very small tummy’s and perhaps what your child is eating is sufficient for them. Keep offering snacks or have them readily available for your child to access when they are hungry. My daughter is now 6 and I have had this issue with her since she was 2 and she is healthy and doing well but just doesn’t eat much.

  • First of all when your toddler is happy and growing, this doesn’t have to be a reason of concern. They’re only little and don’t need heaps of food. At that age I often filled an ice cube tray for my kids with a variety of healthier foods (for example quarters of boiled egg, cubes of cheese, banana slices, pieces of kiwi or strawberry, pieces of bread, etc) and they could pick from that when they wanted

  • Oh hun, the way I could have written this myself! My toddler suddenly doesn’t want any meat, only tuna and salmon with rice occasionally. Only wants fruit and vegetables, or anything that has bread. The last few days I’ve found giving him food he can graze on left where he can grab it helps. Sandwiches with hidden veg, scrolls, fruit and veg, baby trail mix (Cheerios, dried yoghurt drops, currants). Breakfast is 3 weekbix and yoghurt which is always a hit and a banana. Dinner is hit and miss. If he could live off plain white rice he would. Very keen to see what others say!
