Hello!

My 1 year old is a terrible sleeper. We decided to try a comforter with her. She already has a clear favourite among her toys. So we used this to start. I have slept with the toy so it has my smell, we have the toy at bed time and in bed, but she seems to throw it away most of the time. Are there any tips on how to get her to use it?

  • The one thing with comforters and dummies is that kids can loose them during the night causing a disrupted sleep by child and parents. However the more attached the child becomes to the comforter, the less likely it will throw it out

  • Just have it on you at all times! When sad, hurt, watching a movie etc just be like why don’t you go get “teddy” when it’s bed time or nap time make sure you grab that teddy. It might take some time but after a while it becomes a habit. It took a while for my son to take to one but once we found his “puppy” he never lets it go.

  • My daughter has raffy and she’s had him since birth. I slept with it so it would smell like me.

He plays white noise and music so since she was born in her bassinet or pram I would play the white noise and that’s how that started. I’ve done the same with my son too

  • Let her to choose one. May be try a cosy blanket. My daughter still love her baby blanket.

  • Every kid is diffrent. My older chooses his when he was 1yo. My younger just turned 2 and found her fav toy. I reckon they need to do it on their own.
