  • Strange that your GP just puts your concern aside without further investigating. It’s clear that you wonder yourself otherwise you wouldn’t have placed your question here, so I think you should take that serious and seek the opinion of another GP.
Easy bruising can happen by certain vitamin deficiencies (such as vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin B12) but it also can indicate a blood disoredr or liver disease or other conditions. It also can happen when you use blood thinners

  • If your Doctor has not answered your worries I would go to another and get a second opinion. Tell the new Doctor that you are not feeling heard and are worrying. Worrying in it’s self is not good for you. The Doctor telling you that you may have something wrong with your blood and doing nothing is not very reassuring.

  • I say always follow your intuition. You have nothing to lose by getting some tests done and will gain peace of mind or information to take action. Feeling empowered and not worried is a much better option! Ask for a referral to a specialist if you cab… even if you need a new doctor. Photograph your bruises and monitor for any other symptoms, like bumps beneath the skin, fatigue, etc. Document and hi prepare to advocate for yourself.

  • As long as this has always been the case then its not something to worry about. My Mum was like this and she passed it down to me. I always have brusies somewhere on my body.
If this is new then I agree with others that you should visit a different Doctor and see what they have to say

  • I would seek a second opinion from another doctor. I use to get really bad brusising similar what you are saying and this was because my platelet were low and my white blood cell count wasn’t great. Always worth getting another opinion if you aren’t happy with the first one. You gut is normally right if you feel something isn’t.

  • In addition to my comments below about bruising; it can indeed vary for people when it comes to bruising. It is good to eliminate any concerns by seeking medical support and even as suggested below a possible blood test to alleviate any concerns. Again listen to gut instinct and a possible follow up discussion.

  • I bruise easily and dramatically too. One reason is that I take aspirin daily; this apparently makes me a bit more inclined to bruise. But it’s something I’ve noticed my whole life, well before I started taking medication. I don’t think it’s something to worry about – just a normal kind of variation.

  • I have ALWAYS bruised easily aswell. My husband says I’m a peach. I used to bruise easy aswell low in iron and have since had an iron transfusion and amazingly enough I’ve noticed way less bruising! Definitely get a blood test to check all your levels are good. Our bodies show us signs of things being wrong in so many ways and drs do tend to ignore them.

  • If ever concerned about anything medical I always follow up with a second opinion. It is always good to listen to intuition and gut instinct and follow up on any medical concerns or worries that niggle. If it ends up not being anything that is fine and the concern is alleviated.
