Hello!

Hi, I’m running out of inspiration for what dinners to prepare for my 14 month old! I would love to prepare some quick and easy toddler meals. Can you or any mums out there recommend some good (and quick and easy) toddler cook books please? Thanks!

  • My 13 month old eats what we eat, but without added salt or sugar, and always with a handful of veggies.
However quick suggestions are you may be able to get fish or chicken skewers from the supermarket deli, these are easily grilled, baked or pan fried with a serve of veggies.

  • zuchinni slice is awesome, my little one loves it so does hubby, you can grate in as many different veges as you like, its got eggs in it which might be a problem if your not giving them eggs, but its brilliant with a salad or some other side dish and it freezes well.

  • Google should be able to help you but I pre cook stuff and freeze for the nights I just don’t have time to cook

  • Hope you found/ find some ideas

  • Agree with nicole, use google! I always turn to google when I need inspiration for anything. There’s so many possibilities and ideas out here in the world wide web!

  • pasta and spaghetti Sausages and rolls

  • Rather than ‘real life’ books, I would suggest a google search for free kids recipe ebooks and websites. Heaps of great free resources at your fingertips, and then you can make up a special book with your kids with all of your favourite recipes in it

  • Noodles, lots and lots of noodles

  • Soups are yummy. With dried toast. chicken pumpkin and vegetable soup are great for little kiddies.

  • Chicken fingers – slice the chicken is one of those shake and bake coatings and bake them and whamo chicken fingers

  • Meatballs are a treat and peas and carrots – my kids loved their veggies

  • Homemade sausage roll are great its easy to put a few hidden vegetables and home made meatballs.
pin wheels puff pastry with ham and cheese .. ..

  • At 14 months of age, my children were eating exactly what we were, perhaps just leaving out any too spicy ingredients in their portion. Pasta, rice, roast and vegies, etc.etc. they ate it all. I would often freeze small containers of left overs as well so if we were having a late dinner or going out, I would have a meal ready for them. Other than that, fish fingers, making mini pizzas, or a hot dog are a quick meal.

  • Pasta is a winner in our house. We don’t have a lot of variety unfortunately, but my kids are well fed with nutritious meals.

  • Macaroni & cheese, with mashed pumpkin, tuna an extra cheese mixed though! A packet of steam fresh vegetables, with a small tin of tuna mixed though (and grated cheese!)

  • When ever you cook a meal, make extra and freeze individual portions! I have a zippy bag of sausages, meatballs and rissoles frozen in the freezer and just cut up some vegies to steam and it takes 2 minutes because the portions are so small! Cous cous is instant!

  • can’t go wrong with pasta -you can hide all kinds of veggies in it, and they love slurping up spaghetti

  • Annabelle Karmel has some great cookbooks out.

  • i’m already out of ideas. they get bored, but won’t try new things.

  • Lasagna is also great. You can add veggies to the meat sauce and put it in bub sized freezing containers for a later date. scalloped potatoes. I use a quick microwave recipe. Fill a round casserole dish with sliced potatoes, mix in a bowl a teaspoon or so of garlic and the same of flavoured mustard, a packet of French onion soup, 300ml of cream a splash of milk, cheese on top, cover and let the microwave do the rest. I sometimes add the cheese half way through to avoid over cooking and too much browning
