Hello!

I am looking for somewhere close to perth and cheap to take the family (2 adults &4 kids) away for the weekend. Do you have any good ideas for a weekend away near Perth?

  • It depends on how far you want to travel but Bunbury is really nice or Preston beach ( footprints) is closer and well priced. Rottnest Island is amazing but its a lot more expensive.
Or if you’re happy to travel further down south – Sunflower animal farmstay is fantastic.

  • Northam. It’s approximately an hour from Perth, a small, rural farming community. It’s cheap! And there’s lots of outlying towns that have interesting things to see and do within a short driving distance of Northam

  • down south! bunbury isn’t too far these days. also pemberton is lovely and donney brook have a huge playground for the kids.

  • Oh wow, katelt that sounds awesome

  • How about a caravan park?

  • Dwellingup is great for camping also!- rope swings etc!

  • I love Mandurah, only half hour drive, have the beach, crabbing, camping , foreshore, cinemas and theatre!

  • I don’t think I will ever get the chance, so fulfill MY dream and go to Monkey Mia to swim with the dolphins!

  • Dunsborough has lots of holiday home options, and specials over winter. Or Moore River to the north?

  • We went to yallingup not that long ago in a B&B and it was great and relatively inexpensive. I know lots of people go to Mandurah, but we live near Rockingham so we prefer to travel a bit further. We also recently hired a house down south and it was quite cheap and it meant we could cook our own meals rather than eating out all the time. Have a great trip wherever you decide to go. If you like to camp there is a great place near Darkan that has a lake, play equipment etc it is fantastic.

  • Augusta is pretty good you can rent a whole house for just $200 a nite or less. Theres fishing crabbing mini golf and of course the caves that are nearby are great value and a must see Check out stayz.com Acc

  • Down south is always good. I went to a few good farm stays. Mandalay Resort in Busselton is supposed to be good.

  • going south is great busselton etc
there are also a lot of farm stays which kids love around the perth area or camp site with lots of activities for kids.

  • Im a Perth girl too 🙂 Mandurah is awesome, busselton, albany, marg river, or go north to ningaloo reef for warm weather!

  • Have heard great things about Mandurah. Margaret River also sounds lovely

  • Not in WA but have visited with my husband who is from there…Hilary’s Boat Harbour looked like a lovely place to stay & has lots of things to do plus close enough drive to other places. Also Mandurah is a nice place & we also loved going to Rottnest Island – would love to take our boys there when they’re a bit older for a holiday 😀

  • rottnest island is amazing. caters for everyone and is cheap.

  • The Lavender and Berry Farm is great for kids: http://www.lavenderandberryfarm.com.au/

  • Mandurah, and you can get there on the train

  • Hubby always wanted to go to Margaret river, reckons its divine.
