Hello!

I would like to make my son a special cake for his 13th birthday. Something that’s not too hard but looks (& tastes) great. He had a ‘burger’ cake last year & loved it. Any ideas?

  • I’d love to make a sponge cake surrounded by icecream. Like a simpler version of a bomb Alaska

  • What about a Number 13 Birthday Cake make a one and then a 3 and decorate it with his favourite chocolates and lollies

  • Depends on what he is into… Favourite sport, favourite movie character, favourite superhero, favourite hobby…

  • Something different…Cheesecake

  • Love some of these ideas. I especially like the idea of a Star Wars themed cake which is back in fashion.

  • Really interesting reading the comments to this!

  • I love the idea of individual cup cakes made into a cake design – they are really great for a party, as there is no cutting and they look cool too, when different colour icing is used. Enjoy the party!

  • Star wars, mine craft??

  • It will depend on what things he is into.
Sports theme are pretty easy. Balls, bats or racquets.
    Computer consoles are fun too.

  • If he likes chocolate, I’d try this recipe, because it’s easy, moist, delicious, and he’d never know there’s beetroot in it.

  • there are some good comments here

  • I would do a castle cake!

  • I made my teen son a Malteaser cake – choc mud with Malteasers all over it as they are his favourite. A pinata cake is always popular with tweens/teens too.

  • I’d love to see what you did!

  • I was thinking a skateboard cake would be pretty awesome for that age.

  • A lot of the kids like rainbow cakes now -you could do one like that with favourite football team colours inside.

  • What about an icecream cake.

  • So many options depends on what he likes?
You could do a monster cake with a grass wilton tip pretty easy and add some googley eyes from styro ball and wire 🙂

  • A fruit cake with lots of fresh fruits

  • how did it go? 🙂
