Hello!

I am new to Victoria and they only have a 4 year old Kinder in QLD. Is it worth it if my daughter already goes to daycare?

  • Most daycare programs also prepare for primary school in that age group, I don’t think it’s necessary.

  • You need to ask the daycare if they have a kinder program.
That will give you an indication.

  • If your daughters only 3, I’m pretty sure they won’t let her into 4 year old kinder, due to education department rules. Daycare is fine for a 3 year old

  • I shouldn’t think so, I don’t think it’s a legal requirement. It would be good to integrate them into the school they will end up at though. So if you can get them into kindy at that school, it could be a smart move

  • It depends on the program they offer at day care. It might be a good idea to send her to the feeder kindy for the school so she gets to know some of the kids that will be at her school. They also tend to do school visits later in the year, and this would be good to be involved in.

  • I don’t think so. most days cares have programs/ learning objectives for the kiddies, plus the hours are longer!

  • Probably not, kinder just prepares them that little bit more to get ready for school

  • Daycare is good to help socialise them, it also helps with separation anxiety.

  • I wouldn’t think so. Most daycares have a learning inclusive program that will include some aspects of kinder readiness and this will increase as they get closer to approaching school.
