So sorry to hear you’ve been denied NDIS 7x !! To be eligible for NDIS funding, the disease or medical condition must cause permanent impairment (physical, intellectual, cognitive, neurological, visual, hearing or psychosocial), resulting in significant disability. Is your condition permanent ? Have you approached specialist to write supporting letters ? Can it be supported by outcome of tests and exams ?

So many variants here. I ramp has to be a least 1/14 grading to be safe so it may be very long with turns/landings needed. It might be made of concrete, metal or wood. As with anything I would get a quote but make sure it is looked at by an OT to give sensible advice about width needed, turning areas, gradient etc.

I guess price depends on the ramp. Is it outdoors? concrete? wood? other? covering a big change in height? etc. but would certainly ask about for other quotes. If it’s a small indoor one perhaps a MensShed can make something for just cost of materials?

Wow that seems very expensive. I wonder if there is any charities in your area that may be able to assist or provide you with contacts of who may do it cheaper. Hopefully you find something.

Call them or send a quote to know the price and also they have this ramp platform where you can design or choose the design that will be fit for your home.

I can’t speak from experience but that sounds ridiculously high to me. I would keep looking around. I hope you find something soon.

That sounds extraordinarily high! Maybe get a few more quotes, try your local Facebook Group and/or Airtasker (you may find a local handyman who could create/build one for you).

Thank you everyone it has to be 14 m long as home is 1.09m off ground, our home is only 10m long so it’s a huge thing to add but it just seems unfair as I’m happy to use any materials and nothing fancy but any lift is too expensive too we got a stair climber thanks to the guys giving us a deal ($4000) but I’m in pain and it’s a very bumpy ride it really hurts. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer we’re in rural Qld so not much choice in services.

I certainly wouldn’t be going with the first quote I got, and especially at that price. Think I would be taking more consideration into what I am buying not what will be conducive to beat the virus and that really seems to kong,

Boy that’s a big amount for it but it depends what size is that you need, make sure you get another couple of quotes make sure they are qualified and maybe reviews on their work as so many scammers and look for builders or carpenters again what it will be made of and I know wood is quite dear but steel is too.

As for how people could afford this when they’re on a pension; I honestly don’t know.
May dad has become quite poorly and a stair lift became urgent. Luckily they were in the situation that they could afford it themselves, I think many people can’t and sadly miss the boat.

My mum’s ramp for her house cost her about $800 but that was a few years ago and it would depend on the type of ramp you need and what it would be made out of. Some further information and I may be able to guide you in the right direction a little more.

That seems far from a fair price to me! I’d keep looking for the right people to build you what you need. We’ve just had a ramp built at a unit complex for an outdoor ramp over steps and it was around $12 000, for comparison.
