Is it normal for a baby to have clenched fists?

Is it normal for eight week old to have clenched fists – nearly all the time? Her hands feel cold and Mum has mittens on her. Is this ok?

Babies clench their first for numerous reasons. In fact, this behavior is both common and normal. Newborns clench their fists due to a neurologic reflex called palmar grasp.
