Hello!

My little man has a bottle every 2 – 3hrs, between 150ml – 200ml. He has up to 6 – 7 bottles a day. We have started him on purees and he’s starting to hold out longer for his bottles (3hrs). We had his 4mth check up and hes over 8.5kg (97th percentile). Interested in other bub’s 4 – 5month old how much they eat how often etc thanks!

  • My baby is nearly eight months old but when she was 4-5 mo the old she was feeding every 2 hours (sometimes less!) she has always been on the 90th centile for weight and height. We started her on solids early too as we felt she was still hungry and that helped stretch her feeds out to three hours too!! Which also helped a lot with sleeping.

  • I would ask for medical advise. Maybe they will reccommend increasing solids or vary the strengh of the formula. Ours didn’t have that many bottles a day even when teething. They were demand fed.

  • We let our little one feed as often as he liked, about 6 bottles a day 150ml on average and small amount of solids.

  • I think every baby is different! It could just be a growth spurt!

  • They say you can’t over feed a baby

  • My baby is 7 months and since she was born has been in the 97th percentile, so dont stress!

General rule of thumb is 100ml-120ml per kg
If you are seriously concerned visit or call a health care pro.
Make sure to mention if he was big at birth, if family members are bigger, bottle or breast, progression weight to get a good idea of YOUR baby.

    ALL babies are different!!!

    Take cues from your baby.
He will tell you if he is hungry.
~If he turns his head away or moves his head around a lot it means im full mummy!

Remember around 6 months babies get a lot more active and grow more…

Make sure you are feeding when hungry too!
I thought my baby was hungry all the time for the first 3 months…
    Turned put she had gas!!!
Babies cant tell if its hunger or wind sometimes and signal hunger to confuse us!

    Hope this helps!

  • I only breastfeed and my daughter at 5 months is on the 95th percentile she is 7.5kilos and was feeding every 3 hours she would be my biggest Bub I have 3 kids and my doctor told me her height and weight are the same percentile so he wasn\’t concerned. my girl has started solids and is slowing down her breast feeds, once they start moving about more this will help. Just make sure when you are feeding Bub is hungry and not other reasons overstimulated, sleepy, or just wants a cuddle. See your health nurse or doctor if you are concerned, at this age they seem to worry more if Bub is underweight. The fact that you are concerned means you are doing a great job. My health nurse will tell me if there is a problem most do!

  • My little pudding is almost 8kgs and he’s not quite 3 1/2 months yet. He’s fully breastfed – around 2-4 hourly. I’m hanging out to start some solids with him – waiting til 4 months then going for it!
I agree with most of the comments here – as long as weight, height and head circumference are all increasing I don’t think you need to worry. Go with his cues.

  • They definitely need more during growth spurts. Some also want more during teething.
I am wondering if it could be anything to do with the formula you are using. Have you tried offering water at all? In warm weather it may be he is simply looking for more fluids.

  • Every bub is different. It could indeed be a growth spurt. bub s generally only drink what they need

  • My daughter was breastfed and woke every 3 hrs for the first 10.5mths of her life… we started purees around 4.5 to 5 months. I’m not sure how many mls of milk she would have in a sitting (so to speak) I’d suggest your son’s eating what he needs. 97th percentile is still on the charts – we were at the other end 30th percentile – they are all different. Could be a growth spurt and maybe he’ll slow down later
