Hello!

My 6 month old has really pink cheeks and is always dribbling. She’s also quite whingy and clingy. Do you think she’s teething? What do other mums do to help?

  • Teething is always the first thought. As someone said Bongela is always helpful

  • The same thing happened to my little one. I believe so. Good to have Bonjela on hand.

  • I would be surprised if she isn’t teething. If you feel her gums very gently with your finger you may be able to feel the tooth that is close coming through her gum, or she may have cut it and you be able to feel the tip of the tooth. There is some great teething gels available that help to relieve pain. Occasionally babies have an higher than normal temperature (I’ve experienced that with 2 little ones). Not all babies like “cold teethers”. I know one that hates them and will push it away. There is also a very remote chance that your baby may get tonsillitis when cutting teeth. I know a lady who as a baby > to wisdom teeth got tonsillitis every time and eventually had her tonsils removed.

  • Most likely yes.
I always had some teething rings in the freezer and still have.
Also have always a tube of oral pain relieving gel handy.

  • That would be my guess. Some bubs start getting teeth quite early. My first had 6 teeth by 6 mths old!!! the red cheeks, dribble and a bit whingey are all part and parcel of it. Give bub some good teethers to chew on and check the gum for the tell-tale bumps of new teeth emerging.

  • Have a look in her mouth. Sometimes you can see little white buds (teeth) just under the surface of her gums.
