Hello!

I am 100% not pregnant but I have not had my period this month. I am stressing out and I don’t feel any symptoms of it coming on. I recently had my car break down (will cost more than it’s worth to fix so now I have no car) and a few other things have been so stressful so my friend said that it could just be that. Have you been through this and did your period return next cycle?

  • Just re-read my earlier answer and apologise for the error in the last sentence. It should have read I wouldn’t worry if I were you.

  • My periods were never regular, sometimes even three or four months late. I had lots of tests done and nothing irregular was found. My GP said it was most likely due to hormonal changes caused by weight loss, weight gain, or stress. The irregularity of my periods didn’t affect my fertility. I was in my late 30’s when I first started trying for a baby and became pregnant after two months and had a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby. So I would worry if I were you.

  • Yeah, my periods used to be all over the place. The only time they’ve come regularly is when I’ve been on the pill. Stress would be impacting it though

  • Yep! I was stressed once after taking on a new business and it definitely made my period late!

  • I agree that stress can cause irregular periods. Relax, irregularity in periods is very common.

  • If you are say 40 onwards your body might be approaching or getting ready for menopause and yes I have had skipped periods and stress of any kind plays a big part on your body . I can even get cysts and ulcers ( mainly on lips ) if I am not careful . Maybe just be mindful of the stresses and try to use techniques such as good breathing , stretching etc if it happens too often .

  • Stress can definitely be a factor. If you’re that worried, make an appointment with your Dr and have a check up. Myself, I wouldn’t worry too much, I would give it a bit longer….it will come

  • Its best to see your doctor if you aren’t sure, you may just be on a longer cycle than usual.

  • I would say it’s definitely stress related.

  • My period has often been late, 6 weeks at one time! Stress can often affect the timing. I now take the pill for regulation

  • Stress does affect your cycle. I’ve had months where it’s been massively late and I’ve also had 2 periods a month due to stress and not eating properly.

  • STRESS will do this to you. Make a note of when you were due and when it started again and do this for the next few months but if it is really worrying you talk to your doctor. Can just be hormonal. Best of luck hope it goes your way soon!

  • Stress can be a factor but maybe just visit your local GP to double check. Best to be on the safe side

  • There are a lot of medical reasons (some innocuous, some not) that could be behind this. I’d wait a week and then visit your GP.

  • Yes. Stress sometimes delay them. The only way you could be 100% not pregnant is if you’ve either not had intercourse in the last 2 months or if your doctor has done a blood test and it’s came back negative. The urine test for me didn’t work early on in my pregnancies. Both I found out around 12 weeks.

  • There are so many factors that can upset the menstrual cycle. Stress, drastic dieting, a scare like a child falling , hormonal issues etc. Please see a doctor to put your mind at rest.

  • Yes, stress can cause changes. As others have said, if you are worried before you are next due then see a doctor.

  • It happened to me too, but I’m 48 and close to menopause. Stress can surely play a big part in it. I wouldn’t worry. But if it happens again, I’d surely talk about it with my GP.

  • Stress can interrupt the cycle, also if you are underweight periods can stop. My friend went through a very stressful time and her periods ceased (she was also boarding being underweight). Other things could be medical but you probably would have been aware by now ie polycycstic ovaries, endometriosis, menopause, thyroid issues (a friend with thryroid peoblems only had 1 to 3 periods a year!). I think 23 to 35 is a normal cycle so could be your body playing tricks on you

  • Stress can certainly upset your cycle but I would go and see your go to put your mind at rest
