Hello!

My eldest starts Prep (qld) next year and I have to start making lunches. My kindy currently provided lunches so I have been lucky enough to not do it. Ideas please?

  • there are some good comments here

  • some great ideas here. we include yoghurt, fruit, a container with ham, cheese, cherry tomatoes, boiled egg, carrot sticks, home made muffin, sandwiches/crackers.

  • You could follow on from what the kindy provided – it would also be what your child is already used to for lunch.

  • Some good ideas below that I will also pass onto my daughter

  • Also check the school policies – most are nut free, but I have heard a lot are egg free now too which is limiting on lots of healthy exciting lunch ideas!

  • Mini wraps, frittatas, sushi, pikelets, veggie sticks, fruit salad, healthy muffins, mini quiches…. A lot of these you can cook up a batch which you can use for the week or cook up a few different things and freeze so you can mix it up but aren’t cooking them all the time.

  • Pikelets and muffins are great and you can make them really healthy too. Fruit, veggie sticks with some Greek yoghurt or ttatziki/hummus for dipping. boiled eggs. Cheese sticks, maybe freeze a yoghurt to keep everything cool and keep the yoghurt from spoiling

  • In our family savoury muffins always go down a treat!

  • I need to know ideas too, great question
