Hello!

“I have a very fussy 7 year old. He is more interested in playing than eating and I am struggling to find healthy snacks for his lunch box. He will have a bite or two of an apple or pear and will not touch other fruit. I like to make things at home for him, but he never eats them. He says he only likes things with chocolate. To make things harder he has egg and nut allergies. He is eating less and less at school and I’m worried that he’ll start falling behind because of his lack of energy in the class room. I’d love some advice and some great recipes that might help in getting some nutritious food into my boy!” Do you have any lunchbox ideas?

  • I have trouble with one of my kids , have a look at ‘lunch boxes with love’, or google bento boxes (Japanese style) to get ideas. I use cookie cutters, cute toothpicks etc. my kids lunch boxes come home empty!

  • No advice but this is normal. Frustrating but normal!! My 9 year old is the same. His lunch box is pitiful, usually two pieces of bread, a carrot and a couple of biscuits. But that’s all he will eat b

  • We have the same problem a prep kid who is too busy playing to eat. I pack morning tea (mandarin) lunch (sandwich) afternoon tea (home made pop corn) when he arrives home I pull out his lunch box and eat what’s inside then he has dinner early so he doesn’t get too filled up on other stuff. We also do carrot sticks cucumber sticks etc its a tricky business being a mum of a fussy eater

  • How ironic! My 5yr old son has egg & peanut allergies & gluten intol. I give him sushi which I make each morning & he enjoys that. Smoked salmon & avo inside the sushi.
