Hello!

Wanting to know of other mums personal experiences with gestational diabetes in pregnancy, when you test positive. I’ve done 2 tests with fasting 2 hr every pregnancy this is my 4th pregnancy and they want to test me twice again. I have tested negative everytine apart from larger babies nothing else is wrong during pregnancy. I have very large placentas and thick umbilical cords. #1 4kg to #2 was almost 5kg and #3 early at 4.5kg #2 & 3 csection and #4 will be c-section.

  • It’s good that your doctor is onto it and checking everything to make sure it’s all going to plan

  • there are some good comments here

  • Your medical team is doing a great job in looking after you and your baby, be guided by them, hopefully you won’t have any complications.

  • Diagnosed at 3 months pregnant, and to be honest, I was quite happy to follow all the recommendations and diet etc, as even then I ended up on insulin, Dread to think what would have happened if I had not paid attention!! Also I found ever since then I have eaten far more healthily than before pregnancy, plus I was told by the specialist I would most certainly be diabetic after the birth, but I tested normal!

  • Sorry I can’t help u here

  • I would follow your obstetrician’s advice as it can be serious for both the baby and you.

  • Some good advice there below.

  • My daughter hated all of those tests but did them as otherwise I think the stress is worse

  • No GD here, but I hope your pregnancy is going well!

  • Hope all is going well with your 4th pregnancy

  • My sister in law developed it with her 4th pregnancy but all is okay now.

  • I have had gestational diabetes with both pregnancies and I know that the testing is awful, however if it goes undetected the implications to the baby are too great to ignore. I would be taking the test regardless of past outcomes.

  • i dont know how hard it would be to cope with this but you are strong!

  • Even if they want you to do more testing, it is up to you in the end.

  • Thanks for all the tips and advice, my sister just found out she has GD.

My after birth was over 16 pound I had a c section I had to be careful and was put on a diet but it was not that hard… In fact my first was over10 pound 2 so. You need to be careful and. Follow the diet hosiptal put you on. .. In saying that beware some fruits are not good for you….
