  • I have found the “smooth me now” shampoo and conditioner from Eleven is very good – but it is on the pricey side. John Frieda Frizz Free is also pretty good, and it’s not too expensive – and it frequently goes on sale at either Woolworths or Priceline. It might be worth trying.

  • In addition to my comments below; I also book in a regular appointment for a trim with my hairdresser. It is always a good idea get hair managed and maintained by a hairdresser. My hair needs more attention during the Summer months due to my active lifestyle and being outdoors and swimming.

  • I really am a fan of using various conditioning treatments on my hair. It is always a good idea to get advice about hair and scalp care from a professional. I received good advice from my hairdresser and because she knows my hair type it really helps with maintaining my hair.

  • I have dry and somewhat brittle hair too. I prefer not to wash my hair with shampoo too often. Instead I just rinse it with water after which I use a good conditioner. Also don’t use too hot water when washing or rinsing your hair. A satin silk pillow case can be helpful too. I do a weekly hair mask or even just some coconut oil at the ends of my hair as well

  • My daughter was colouring her hair and it needed something as it was getting dry and brittle. So, I suggested using coconut oil and putting it on your hair and leave it on for an hour or so and it brings back the shine and your hair looks really healthy. I’d suggest you do at least 2 times per week. Plus, don’t wash your hair everyday as it washes out all your natural oils. Hope this helps you.

  • Not cheap, but I’ve found Kerastase, Biolage, Matrix and Aesop work for me. I go between the brands depending on how my hair looks. The Kerastase hair oil is a constant for me, but the biolage hair oil is really nice too and is much cheaper. Hopefully you find what works for you

  • I colour treat my hair, or more accurately, “bleach” blonder. My hair is very fine and thinning. Yikes! Add menopause and hair droppage it’s all alarms blaring. I too use a mask a few times a week and it does help but would love to hear any other ideas.

  • Oh gosh! What is your hair type? And is it colour treated? Are you using styling tools? I’d definitely look at going to a salon and speaking to the hairdressers who can recommend certain hair treatments. I use a hair mask on the regular at home and this works for me, – i have thick colour treated hair.

  • Definitely try nanoplasty approx $250 ,use shampoos ,conditioner anything you put in your hair make sure it’s sulphate free for longer lasting nano. Treatment weekly, and always use heat protection before any styling.and never use box colour ,go buy tubes of colour with peroxide and either do yourself or a professional

  • Highly recommend looking into Nanoplasty hair treatment, it’s not cheap but it works!

  • I love this question! I am so keen to see what products people recommend as I’m always on the lookout for good hair care products! Recently I tried the Dermaveen oatmeal shampoo and was pleasantly surprised at the bounce in my curls afterwards. My hair is frazzled and dry also so anything that brings some health and shine is great!
