I agree with your dentist cassy26 ! And even if we brush the teeth of our kids, we’re teaching them how it is done. It’s a good idea to do it in front of a mirror

My dentist actually told us that parents should brush their kids teeth until they are about 8 years old. Obviously let them have a go as well but its difficult for them to get in there properly and give them a good clean at a young age.

My youngest is nearly 8yr old and has Down Syndrome. Since she doesn’t do a good job brushing her own teeth, I still brush her teeth myself in the evening very well, after that she makes an attempt herself and also in the morning.

We started off when our kids were little babies with those rubber toothbrushes which go around your finger. Then I would brush my own teeth in front of them, then I would brush their teeth, then they could brush my teeth and then have a go on their own. We always do little songs to make it fun and I’ve some books about brushing teeth for when they’re a little older and eager to skip or do half a job.

You have to do it for him for a while – and make sure you clean your teeth properly in front of him.

Ooo. Good question. I don’t have an answer, but following for advice myself.

just get him to mimic you and demonstrate in a fun way. he will get used to it

We stared teeth cleaning around 18 month ,we played big grin with toothbrush ,show & do these tastes together ,now our lad the best pearly white ,even the Dentist commented how good his teeth are
