Hello!

I love shopping an was wondering if anyone knows how I would go about getting information on being a mystery shopper an if it’s worth the money as I’m sure it doesn’t pay great. Any info would be awsome thanks..( I think that’s what it’s called) as this would work well as I could do it with the kids..

  • About a year ago I did Wendy’s ice cream. took about an hour I was paid approx $25.. It was close to me so not much travel. I don’t do it any more though.

  • Could someone give an example of pay rates and time involved?

  • I do mystery shopping for 2 different companies. One of them offers lots of assignments but the pay per assignment is low. The other offers few assignments but the pay is much higher. I do it more for fun really, the pay really isn’t anything that you can rely upon.

  • I recently saw an ad for Mystery shoppers and the money was o.k. not great!

  • I’m intrested to but I figure with trawl expenses and finding someone to look after kids it’s not worth it!

  • Doesn’t sound like it pays very much, but it might be fun.

  • I sometimes see adverts for these in the job vacancy part of Saturday’s paper. Or you could approach some shopping centres and ask if they have anything to offer

  • I’ve joined a few and you need to work up from the bottom like any other job. The pay is anything but great. You may get a free meal out of it or some free goods you may be able to claim back for but after looking g through a few projects I decided it really wasn’t worth my time!

  • I seen these jobs advertised on that website SEEK or Jobsearch!

  • Thank you to all those that have posted up here often thought about it but now that I realise you can’t do it with children its probably not worth it.

  • basically you will get a certain amount of money- say $20 and you will have to buy a wine with that. you can keep the product and change and do your question survey. A lot of stuffing around for basically a free non-expensive product. Mainly good if you actually care about improving customer service. Find these jobs advertised in the paper.

  • I did it when my son was young and it was a waste of time and the pay wasn’t the best. I also was unable to take him with me even if he was worn on me

  • its a good way to make a little extra cash but not really worth the time
i feel, it comes with a lot of fiddling around!

  • I often see these jobs advertised on SEEK.

  • I did it when I was a uni student. Got don’t really earn any money as such, just a bit of pocket money here and there. It’s fun and easy though and often you get to keep the products or meal etc. Worth a go.

  • Check out The Realise Group. I used to do some mystery shopping and found them good. I would often get to keep a product and also get $ (Anywhere for $10-$100 depending on what it was, and the length of the ‘assignment’). I found it good if I fit it in with a trip into the city so that parking and time wasn’t an issue (that is, not making a special trip just to Mystery Shop). More and more companies are using mystery shoppers regularly – I know the major supermarkets do – and stores like Myer, Dick Smith, Bras n Things, The Body Shop and many others. It’s a bit of fun for a bit of ‘pocket money’.

  • I did this for a while for three different companies… You usually only earn $5 – $10 per shop, and since you also have to pay for parking, petrol etc – and it takes time both to do the job and to fill in the report afterwards – I simply didn’t think it was worth it. Fun occasionally but not financially viable. And many of them insist you’re unaccompanied – so you can’t take the kids.

  • I used to do it years ago so I’m sure it’s changed since then.

  • I did it a few times, the money was terrible.
