Hello!

Coming into cold and flu season I was wondering if anyone had some natural remedies for when the kids start to get sick. Thanks

  • Eating garlic is defintely a good idea raw or cooked!

  • I’ve been reading the posted answers and just want to say thank you…

  • warm honey and lemon for a sore throat and eucalyptus oil — a few drops into hot steaming water and breathe the steam in

  • Some of my friends swear by olive leaf extract. When my little one is sick I use a vaporiser which definitely helps him to breath easier.

  • warm honey is good one (:

  • Olive leaf for sure! Good for little kids also 🙂 not overly tasty but it works!

  • Healthy food, lots of fluids (especially water), plenty of rest. Fess little noses is great, a vaporizer works wonders, vicks on the feet for coughs, eukybear rub on singleys, eucalyptus drops on a washer placed under the pillow case. Honey, lemon, garlic, vitamin c 🙂

  • Hot water with lemon, honey and a eucalyptus lolly (it will melt with the hot water)… it’s fantastic for clearing up your nose and soothing your throat…

  • warm honey and lemon drink. plenty of rest.

  • Lots of fluids, vitamin C, keeping warm and of course the Vicks on your feet with socks on at bed time. The last suggestion I was given years ago and never tried it. Not long ago I came down with the terrible flu that is going around and was at my wits end- I tried the Vicks on my feet at night and it really did help.

  • A lady gave me some advice years ago when my kids were sick, and it seemed starnge at the time, but I tried it and it worked. Vicks Vaporub on the feet.

It only works at night, with socks on, and in bed, but it works. I have looked into it and the theory is that the menthol in Vicks increases the diameter of blood vessels and improves circulation or something like that. Who knows.
The fact is, it gives you some much needed respite from that persistent night time cough. you know, the one that happens every ten seconds and keeps the whole house awake. It’s not recommended for infants, but I have tried it on ages 2 and up, and on myself, and trust me, you’ll be so relieved when it works for your kids too. Good luck.

  • Chicken and vegetable soup with lots of garlic and ginger. Also my husband makes miracle tea which is lemon, ginger, honey and black tea.

  • Garlic in the mashed potato

  • put half a onion somewhere in your house the germs in the air will got into the onion

  • I heard the new Sambucol range (black elderberries and vitamin c) comes in syrup form and it actually improves immunity and cuts flu severity by half

  • i have found that putting a bit more garlic and onion in dinner keeps the germs at bay, and helps with any bugs that they may have. they both have natural healing properties. good luck. xx

  • Homemade ginger and lemon tea! Add honey for sweetness

  • Warm lemon and honey water 🙂 lots of vicks and keep socks on them

  • Vicks on the bottom of their feet with socks on. Also add garlic to meals and hubby swears by diced onion, hot water and honey then drink it but I think it is gross lol.

  • Still checking in on answers as now my house Is all flu up 🙁 I did offer some lemon an ginger tea which helped mildly 🙂
