Hello!

My two children always seem to get a really blocked nose when they get a cold and it seems to really upset them. Any natural remedies other mums know about to help?

  • Get them to hang over a bowl or basin of really hot water, with just a few drops of eucalyptus oil in it, and breathe the steam.

  • A vaporiser in the bedroom helps, hot steamy shower, Vicks on a tissue and saline nasal spray helps a lot too

  • We use a humidifier with eucalyptus oil and it seems to help a bit

  • Vaporiser with eucalyptus or just some good old Vicks..

  • Buy a jar of Vick Vaporub . I’ve always smeared it under the kids noses and on their chest. Works everytime and I even use it myself now when I have a bad cold and do this before I go to bed .

  • Fess is good, its just a simple saline solution.

  • just plain old salt and water.

  • When sleeping try and keep them propped up a little, will help with breathing.
Eucalyptus in a bowl with warm water and put head over with towel.

  • A vaporiser is a good thing, try it!

  • The good ol’ bowl of hot water, towel over head and inhale!

  • Fess is great for kids with blocked noses. Good for adults too!

  • there is an aspirator that you can buy to help with this

  • I have not heard of “fess” will have to look into this.

  • Yes, ‘Fess’ is a godsend. Warm baths just before bed and elevate the pillow while they sleep (if they’re old enough to sleep on a pillow). We also put some Eucalyptus oil on a sock and put the sock in their beds which helps clear them up.

  • There is also a ‘little fess’ kit you can get to clear blocked noses!

  • I use eucalyptus, tea-tree and peppermint oil in their baths and Vicks run on their chests!

  • I put either eucalyptus or ti tree oil on a hanky and place this underneath the pillow overnight 🙂

  • I use Otrivin it sucks out the snot in their noses. If that sounds gross they also have a saline solution which is only salt and water and syringe that up their nose. They don’t like it but it works.

  • Hope you found something that worked

  • Peppermint and eucalyptus oil on the nose
