Is it normal to have diarrhoea and aches at 5 weeks? - Mouths of Mums

Hello!

Hi, I have recently found out I am pregnant and will be 5 weeks tomorrow. I was wondering if any other mums experienced belly aches with diarrhoea? I have IBS and lactose intolerance but haven’t eaten anything to trigger that so wondering if I have a stomach bug. Thanks

  • I had that after I gave birth!!! It actually lasted for a few weeks which was horrid as I wasn’t able to leave the house in fear of pooping my pants!
The doctors couldn’t find anything so to this day I have no idea what it was.

  • With anything to do with Diaarrhea /Vomiting , both can cause serious dehydration ( especially in children ) . I would see your doctor immeditatley . Usually if not better after a few days, it is best to seek medical advice .

  • See a doctor. Diarrhoea and tummy aches are not common symptoms of pregnancy that I know of

  • def not normal. yeah maybe gastritis or something

  • With all the hormones our bodys all react differently but usually its a harmless side effect I had it with my second but not my first 🙂 Am also lactose intollerant

  • yes i had that and went to the doctor and thats how i found out i was pregnant

  • Could be some type of bug and I cannot see that it would be anything to do with your food if you have not eaten those things or maybe another food has triggered it.

  • Hormones are a horrible thing. I didn’t suffer with diarrhoea.

  • Basically any ailment is normal in pregnancy.

  • I think it’s just your body adjusting to the pregnancy, if it lasts for more than 7 days I would go and see your gp.

  • Hormones do funny things to the body, so if your diarrhoea problems persist for more than a couple of days, even with your IBS, I’d get it checked by a doctor. Better safe than sorry. I had an “upset tummy” with my first pregnancy, but not with the second. No idea why either.

  • your hormones are changing and it can happen, I wouldn’t worry too much about it

  • It is always best to check with your dr

  • i went to the doctor with stomach aches and diahrea- after blood tests i was told it was because i was pregnant lol
so i think maybe it is normal!

  • I would make a prompt appointment with your doctor to check everything is ok.
