Hello!

Hi everyone. My son is turning 13 in the next few months. Exciting and a little upsetting that he’s entering his teens (I never want him to grow up!). I’m trying my best to get organised by planning ahead! So I asked my son what he wanted to do for this very exciting milestone? His answer “I don’t know” (must be a teenager answer haha). My son isn’t too fussy with parties but I want this to be special and memorable and I know he would truly appreciate the ground work! I would appreciate a few or more original ideas, also ideas on making it special and different from most teenage parties. As much as I love doing research and planning parties, I’m feeling a little stuck with this one. Thank you in advance!!

  • my son will be 13 this yr and we are doing minute to win it games 🙂

  • It depends on what he is into, I know alot of guys enjoy playing skermish or go karting???? H

  • My children are all young adults now but for birthdays we go out and have a nice lunch with the family. This may be in at a not so dear restaurant or a picnic on the foreshore. Other times its just been at home with the food the birthday child likes. To make it special I usually put up balloons and streamers to make the day special. It depends if your son is a introvert or extrovert, If he has a few close friends invite them over. I have had answers such as “dont know, don’t care”but I can understand how you feel. Thirteen is rather special.

  • As you said he doesn’t really like parties so i think you should try and steer clear or it could backfire on you.
Have you thought about just taking him out for the day letting him chose his birthday gift then having a nice lunch together and then letting him chose where he wants to go for tea ??

  • Depends on what your son really likes. Bowling, movies, laser-skirmish, go-karting were all popular with my younger teenage children. Not sure how to make it different though. My daughter just went on a ghost tour for a birthday party and absolutely loved it. Depends where you live and what’s available that is similar like that.
