Don’t be afraid to book your tours from a street vendor, just go to one that is a tour vendor not one that randomly asks if you want to go somewhere when you are purchasing something from their shop. The street vendors are much cheaper than booking through the hotel or from here in Australia. I have worked out what I want to do and then purchased multiple tours and activities for extra bargaining power. Phanta-sea is a site to behold and I really like going to the gibbon rehabilitation centre. Be mindful of what tourism supports in Asia with animal cruelty, things like monkey shows, elephant riding and tiger kingdom all put the animals through incredible cruelty for tourists amusement.

My one recommendation would be to steer clear of the Phuket zoo, especially if your children are animal lovers. It is very different to our zoos in Australia and the animals are not housed well or treated well. Both my husband and I left the zoo in tears. There are so many awesome things to do in Phuket, unfortunately the zoo is not one of them.

Phuket is my favorite travel destination I’ve been twice before kids and once when my baby was 11 months old. It was a great holiday.i love the night markets you have to go to what naka market not sure how it spelt but pronunciation is like that. Theres a kids island with snorkeling and beautiful colourful fish. Food is great at hotels and busy places avoid street food there are always flys on them and they sit there for ages in more then 35 degree heat. Theres a look out that is well worth it. The people are very friendly over there. My partner and I went 3.5 years ago and absolutely loved it. We stayed in Patong however I am not too sure that particular area would be very child-friendly.

I have been to phuket 3 times. My mum has been 11. I haven’t taken my kids but i would be comfortable to take them. The people are great and there is alot to do. Make sure you set a price with your driver before you go but pay when you arrive back. There is a website about phuket thats veru helpful so maybe check that out

Thanks heaps i am travelling with two children aged 11 and 12 I plan on getting a driver to see many tourist sites. Motel booked, feeling a little nervous travelling in September.

Well this will depend on quite a few things and I have a few questions for you to consider.
How many of you are travelling?
What ages are the children?
Where are you travelling from?
How long do you wan to go for?
How much do you want to spend?
What type of trip do you want, resort or adventure holiday?

I have been there a few times so can make some recommendations but this depends on what type of holiday you are after. If with young kids I would stick to the big resorts so if you want a day just relaxing you don’t have to go anywhere at all, other wise there are so many beautiful and cheap properties around that you can look at out of the hustle bustle of Patong.

Where exactly in Phuket are you going? Patong or somewhere else? We have timeshare in Phuket (Laguna) and have been there multiple times, twice with young kids. It is an amazing place to go with children. The Thai people are lovely and there is lots to do. I second the kayak cave tour. It’s the one that goes to James Bond Island. Fantastic! We tended to eat at restaurants on the beach and got a good rapport with the restaurant we went to. How old are you kids? Mine at 7 and 5 loved elephant riding (we did it twice), Tiger Kingdom (a bit pricey but well worth it), Phuket Fantasea (again a bit pricey and based on previous ocassions I would recommend not eating dinner there). We hired a driver one day and drove to the big buddah, and temples etc and had a great day out. Make sure you allow yourself enough down time – swim in the pool, massages etc.

I havent been there since before the Tsunarmi. But I found it to be a lovel place, friendly.Just do not accept the first price any street vendor gives you there product is only worth 40 to 60 percent of the first price they give.. If you can only eat at hotels or places were you see a lot of people eating and steer clear of the strret side vendours.. My hubby at something from one i didnt approve of and ended up at the chemist the next day to stop they runs… They and do a kayaking adventure of the caves if they still have them it was one on the most rememberable things of our trip… A full day at sea then to the caves and a lovely meal was provided.. We also did a multipule stop adventure i think it was a 9 in 1 which included them showing us how to get rubber from a tree, the zoo, weaving a local village and a lovely feast… and 5 other things i can not remember right now.. Also look at whats avalible before you leave and book.. As we found it hard to book into things in a short period of time when we were thee as lots of them were booked out already…
