I purchased and was given books on safe exercise during pregnancy and of course got the exercises and health advice cleared by my GP and other health professionals. It is was good for my body to keep active and fit and do appropriate exercise for a different stage of life.
I went to the Physio during my pregnancy for help with back pain and didn’t have any issues. In fact it actually helped. I even tried a bit of pregnancy massage which was a nice little change. It wasn’t as firm but it was nonetheless relaxing to be able to go and do
It is always so very important to be guided by health professionals about physiotherapy in every stage of life which includes pregnancy. A GP and physiotherapist and other health professionals are best placed to know individual health and circumstances and to provide the correct advice and guidance and health care.
Most are, but you would be wise to ask your physio for guidance – they may feel that some exercises should be modified or skipped during pregnancy (you haven’t said what you need physio for). On the whole, though, keeping yourself in the best shape possible is a good thing to do in pregnancy.
Exercise like this is good for you at any stage but especially when pregnant. You physio would help you in choosing the correct ones or if you are doing it yourself there would be ones online aimed at pregnant women. There are likely videos online to follow step by step.
Definitely can be safe, you just need to know your limits and not push your heart rate too high. Your gp will be able to go through the specifics with you. I was taking pilates classes until it wasn’t comfortable for me to do so anymore, and was able to use a treadmill and cycle bike but at a lower speed than what I usually would.
Yes they certainty are, however it is best to discuss with your physio as each person has a different pregnancy and issues relating to the pregnancy. They will be best placed to help you through this time and support you in the best way possible. I saw someone when I was pregnant and it was very helpful.
Yes absolutely ! Both physiotherapy and Exercise physiology are not only safe during pregnancy they also can be very beneficial during pregnancy as they may give you advise how to manage the pain and how to strengthen certain muscles and help you prepare for the delivery of your child. To be on the safe side it may be good to get the clear of your GP and request a referral.
Yes — physiotherapy sessions and exercises are safe during pregnancy when they’re properly assessed and modified by a qualified physiotherapist.
Here’s what matters 👇
Exercises are tailored to each trimester and your comfort level
Focus stays on low-impact, controlled movements
Common goals include back and pelvic pain relief, posture support, and core stability
High-risk positions, heavy strain, and unsafe loading are avoided
Sessions adapt as your body changes throughout pregnancy
At clinics like Invigor Health, physiotherapists assess your posture, movement, and symptoms first, then guide you through safe, evidence-based exercises that support both you and your baby.
If pain, discomfort, or uncertainty shows up during pregnancy, a personalised physio plan can help you stay active and comfortable—safely.
