We had kids with the same age group, and found we used the double pram maybe three times. It really wasn’t an essential; the single pram worked almost all the time.

My best advice is to get out to the shops and test drive the prams yourself. You can get all kinds of feedback on all kinds of prams, but to know what you want, you’re best to check it out yourself

Babybee duo..has a lot of different configurations for the 2 seats or seat and bassinet and I like that you can still have use of the basket

The problem is usually they’re really heavy. Also depends if the older one is happy to sit underneath. I ended up keeping my original signal pram and getting a second hand side by side double pram. City jogger and mountain buggy do a side by side that fits through a standard door frame. I wanted a city jogger because I love it in the single but ended up with a mountain buggy because I don’t live in a city and that was what was on offer. I have loved it though and if I just have one I take the single pram.

I use it as a double and loooovvvveeee it. It is a tad heavy but you can set the wheels to only straight and not swivel. I mean I do have 2 kids in there and one is a 2 year old as well so I kind of expect any pram to be heavy. Once my baby is a bit older (currently 4 months) I’ll pop her in the bottoms seat and I think that will help cause she’s lighter than the 2 year old.
My only complaint is you can’t have both chairs facing outwards and recline either. So until bub is able to sit upright in the pram your older kid will have to face backwards. A small complaint and it hasn’t bothered my toddler as much as I thought it would.
But anyway still love this pram, it’s a dream and very similar to the Uppababy just more affordable.
Also don’t forget to lube and oil the folding mechanism and brakes every few months to keep it in prime condition

I like the bugaboo donkey – can be 2 side by side or just 1 and storage compartment. Depends on budget though

Side by side I feel works best but it doesn’t hurt to try one at a baby store to see what suits you

I preferred a double pram and a side by side rather than front/back. My kids spent so much more time chatting and holding hands etc because they were next to each other.

I had steelcraft and it was great. I liked it that I could remove seat for my toddler and make him walk not just sit and eat while I am doing all that hard pushing.

I have the silver cross which can have an attachment tandem seat that goes over the top of the other seat.
I only have one baby so haven’t tried it for myself. It is very pricey though.

My only suggestion, if you a shopper like I am, dont go side by side! Find a top and bottom.

I’ve never had the need for one, but I’ve seen a lot of mothers getting around with the prams that have a seat under the main seat. Not sure on the brand

I used a Phil & Teds and was very happy with that.

I use the UppaBaby Vista and love it. Great for either one or two babies.

I haven’t used rhe baby jogger double but have just done research into single/double convertible prams(only have one baby currently but planning a second at some point). The one I ended up settling on was the Bugaboo Donkey – when it’s in double mode the kids are side by side so one isn’t under/behind the other, and in single mode it is more compact with a side basket.
