Hello!

I’m some primary school recommendations on the Gold Coast, in the Mermaid Waters area please! And also some idea of schools to perhaps avoid and why… My son will be starting prep next year and we’ve just moved up from Melbourne, and really have no idea… Thank you.

  • Hope he’s enjoying his primary school by now.

  • Goodluck in finding a good school for your little one

  • I’d suggest going and checking them out, and talking to the principle, ask lots of questions.

  • I went to Merrimac, was a great school, Mudgereeba is good, just go visit a few- good luck!

  • Have u managed to get the right info

  • Hope you get the information you are looking for

  • Hope you manage to find a great school, I’m not in the area so I can’t help but I’m in the same boat! :)

  • Mermaid primary school sounds great…. Or is that jus the name I love lol

  • Yes my mum uses it all the time.

  • I hope you find a suitable school in your area

  • Even go through there yellow pages search for schools ring them up and sus them out before enrolling just to see if that school seems right. Good luck

  • Try mermaid primary school

  • My schools is good, but its more important to have a good teacher than a good school-trust me!

  • My School website would be a good start for you, it has a lot of info on it.

  • A friend of mine had her daughter in Labrador for prep and ended up changing schools because she was getting picked on at school and the teachers didn’t do anything about it plus their learning techniques were different as they weren’t up to the same stuff other schools in prep term were doing like sight words or home readers. Hope that helps.

  • Do you want public or private? I’m thinking the closest schools to you will be Miami primary, varsity college, broadbeach, Caningeraba. They are all public, out of those I would personally recommend Caningeraba. It’s got the best reputation. I would prob avoid Miami and varsity

  • Perhaps when you sort out where you are going to live then you could go and visit schools in that general area and ask for tours. That will at least give you an idea of the general feeling of the school and you should be able to work out if you think its a place that would help your child to thrive or not.

  • Look at the myschool web site with comments about schools you are looking at and achievements.

  • Brooke Blackman do u already have kids at mudgeeraba creek? My son will be starting next year and would like go know if there are other kids starting prep there next year too!

  • Mudgeeraba State School is a lovely school too, my girls go there and love it. Mudgeeraba has a lovely community feel and the people in the village r lovely also. Brooke Michelle Smith u can vouch for that.
